Catherine is the founder of Less is More, a home organizing service driven by a passion for order and beauty. They offer simple, insightful solutions to complex organizing problems. They understand how to maximize space and have a keen eye for good design. Their systems create balance and clarity.

When did you start your business?

We’re celebrating 10 years in business this year! I started the Western Suburbs branch of LIM in August 2018.

What was the reason that you started your business?

I’m passionate about helping other busy moms simplify their homes and their lives.

If you could change one thing about the way mom entrepreneurs are perceived, what would it be?

The assumption that our work is just a “side hustle.” It’s very much a hustle but it’s time and labor-intensive. Just because we don’t work the traditional 9-5 doesn’t mean we’re not working full-time. We are.

What’s something good that’s happened to you in the past year?

I had my first magazine feature—with an interview and photoshoot! It was a goal I set when I first opened the Naperville branch of Less is More and it was such an amazing way to cap off our first year.

Where do you turn for biz inspiration?

My parents. My dad was a CEO for 15 years and my mom founded and ran a nonprofit for a decade. Their work was very different from mine, but I’ve always turned to them for business insight, guidance, and support. Also, our amazing team at Less is More. We continually inspire and motivate each other.

What excites you most about entrepreneurship and where do you see things headed in the future?

The opportunity to branch out, literally, and grow and mentor my own team.

Why did you join The Founding Moms Community? What do you like most about it?

The wealth of combined knowledge among the members and the genuine support I’ve felt when I’ve attended webinars or posed questions. I also appreciate that it’s a group of moms—a group that’s able to understand the challenges of running a business in the context of mom life.
