How Can You Build A Better Business? Talk To People

efficient-quote

So many business tips, so little time.

In all of the Founding Moms’ Exchanges I’ve hosted, in all of the business meetings I’ve taken, in all of the media appearances I’ve done, I’m often asked: “What’s your #1 tip for entrepreneurs who want to build better businesses?”

It’s this: Talk to people.

It may sound trite. To some, it sounds useless. But there’s a way to do it. And that is, to do it. You are a walking, talking representative of your brand. In most cases, you are your brand. So if you’re at a coffee shop or a hair appointment or a hardware store and you have to engage with people, bring up your business. Don’t pitch it. Find a way to weave it into the conversation. You never know who they know. Never. (Don’t believe me? See my TEDx talk to hear my Meetup story.) The one fun fact about human beings that I’ve seen repeatedly over the years but have only my gut to serve as proof: Everyone wants to help you.

Whether you need to find a new service provider or get the word out about your biz, tell someone.
