I’d like to introduce to you one of several guest bloggers that will be joining The Momtrepreneur Maven to add advice, perspective, and help with my periodic Mommy Brain moments.
Welcome, Reluctant Momtrepreneur!
Are entrepreneurs born or made? I guess I’m about to find out.
My career path has never taken a daring turn. Even as a kid, I didn’t run my own lemonade stand. I was the helper.
I’ve always worked for someone else and assumed they knew more about running things. Don’t get me wrong – I developed mad skills and kicked some butt, but it was never my show.
Eight years ago I stepped off the career track to raise my kids full time. It’s been a blast, but I’m starting to get a little nutty. I feel the itch to get back in the game, earn some coin, and think non-mommy thoughts. And I think this time I want to (gasp!) work for myself.
There. I’ve said it out loud.
Now that I’ve made this public declaration, it’s time for me to get serious about making this happen. It goes against my play-it-safe nature to build a business from scratch. So I’m really trying to shift my mindset: I am not an employee. I am an entrepreneur.
I might belly flop. Or I just might nail the triple-gainer. Stay tuned.
