Wanna Be A Nonprofit? No Problem! The Founding Moms Community’s Course #21 Is Out

nonprofit businessThinking about nonprofit business status for your business? A b-corp, perhaps? An LC3, maybe? Let’s tawk.

The Founding Moms Community’s course #21 is out today! Wanna Be A Nonprofit? No Problem! walks you through all the options when it comes to launching or growing your business as a nonprofit entity. There are plenty of reasons to file for 501c3 status — or an LC3, or a b-corp, or more! — and there are lots of reasons to avoid them altogether. But how do you figure it out?

You listen to the experts. That’s why we asked Stacy Ratner to help us out. (Go on, click her name — that picture alone should convince you that she knows her stuff.) She’s the brains behind the Chicago Literacy Alliance, an association of more than 100 organizations helping to meet literacy needs for people of all ages and backgrounds. They’re dedicated to their mission of increasing the combined impact of their community’s literacy organizations by providing opportunities for creative and effective collaboration. Working together, they envision a 100% literate Chicago.

Oh, and she founded Open Books, too. It’s an amazing nonprofit social venture that provides literacy experiences for thousands of readers each year through inspiring programs and creative capitalization of books.

Stacy’s also founded several for-profit companies prior to going the nonprofit business route. With all of her experience, she has great stories for you to learn from while you’re considering what to do. (Note to selves: The boas, sunglasses and sequined scarves were not harmed during the making of this video. But they do make Jill and Stacy sound and look fabulous.)
